Hybrid sausage mushroom lasagna 6.27.15

Image
Inspired by Patrizio's Mushroom Chicken Lasagna Recipe   We replaced the chicken with Italian Sausage...but I'd do it with chicken next time...good, but chicken is better.  This really was delicious though...and we were able to share some yummy leftovers with dad :) We used pasta that you didn't have to cook...the marinara was supposed to be served separate, but we were worried the pasta didn't have enough moisture...so added it to the edges.  Still delicious.  It ended up being a hybrid between traditional lasagna and the creamy version. all the players.  Cheese, bechamel, noodles, basil, meat and mushrooms Mozzarella, smoked gouda, parmasean  A peach/raspberry Grand Marnier frozen margarita These were the best peaches (bought at Costco, grown in Reedley, CA...my dad's hometown) I've ever had.  They smelled so gorgeous it was like peach roses and they were juicy and sweet.  I'll dream of finding peaches like this again. s...

10.9.10 Birthday Eve Ravioli Lasagna

Image
Frozen Ravioli Lasagna topped with fresh basil It's the eve of my 37th birthday...I'm ambivalent about the bday part (although I generally love bdays...just feeling I should "be" more by 37 than I am)....anyway...time to decide on dinner, and since I'm married to a man who likes "DINNER"...not "dinner"...Lasagna was the decision...but a simple version I've heard/read about for a while...made with ravioli.  We're using frozen cheese & beef ones...so we'll see.  They are in the oven right now...have been for 40 mins.. first at 350, which was promptly change to 425..then 375...now up to 400...a little experimentation going on. I think another 10 min at 400 and it will be time to take off the foil and brown for 10 min while the bread cooks... jarred sauce, with 1 lb browned/seasoned beef, a large dollop of sour cream, and a knob of pesto from the freezer the sauce smeared on the first layer about 6 oz of fontina...

Labor Day Weekend...Costco Lasagna nite with family & housesitting 9.6.09

Image
Views from the McRanch, where we were housesitting...it was stormy, but the views are spectacular! We are house sitting for friends...its labor day weekend...family is coming for dinner...and I don't want to cook.  Mikey, Amanda and Logan are coming out to spend the night Sunday nite.  Costco lasagna to the rescue!  Just take off the wrapper and pop in the oven!  I am making fresh garlic bread...but that's not cooking...just assembly.  My hands smell all garlicky...which is a great aroma to go with the baking lasagna.  We'll add a simple romaine salad with our favorite vinaigrette or with Ranch dressing...to each his own.  I only wish that I would have clipped some fresh basil when I was home watering my plants today... I'm looking forward to time with family and no kitchen work...its vacation!  We got yummy Costco cookies too...the combo pack of chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, and macadamia nut white chocolate chip (Scott's fav)  Mikey b...

7 Cheese Lasagna

Image
We made this back in December...the 12 th . We were jonesing for a great lasagna and after perusing food network site settled on Paula Deen's . I remember watching her make it on her show years back... how can you forget someone putting cream cheese in their lasagna?! Well, we made it together and it does really have 7 cheeses in it...although that's not her name for it. We made the full recipe which is enough to feed an army...can I say "leftovers". We shared some with dad and "e" a few days later and then did indeed have decadent leftovers. This would be great with a simple green salad with my balsamic dressing...and of course a glass of wine. We have discovered a wine that we enjoy so much it has been deemed our "house wine". We aren't really wine aficionados to say the least...we are about as ignorant about wine as can be...but we know what we like... and its all for 2.97 a bottle! Oak Leaf...we've only tried the Merlot and Cabernet a...
