Sept 3-10 2015 Tomato Soup & Sandwiches

Another yummy week in the Works' house.   Creamy tomato soup for my peeps at school, popcorn for dinner :), spaghetti and meatballs, tilapia with sweet tater fries. 10.24.2010 Nails, Fish, Fries & Wine...oh, football too...and SINBAD!!!!!

crispy fried tilapia lots of oil, s&p (on one side), soaked, drained, dried...hot oven (400-450)...30-40 min, turning once..Deeelicious!  It's 6:30pm on a Sunday night...Football is on in the living room.  The oven has oven fries "chips", whatever...GOODNESS in and roasting with salt, pepper (fresh ground black please....I do not understand white pepper at all)...canola oil, and a few dollops of bacon rendered fat..YUM!  Scott has oil on to heat to sear..okay FRY tilapia, which was dredged in a mix of sourcream, milk and such, and Panko....we were out of eggs, so we'll see what happens.  I pestered him to dredge it twice, which might not have been the best idea, but we'll see.  We had our fav cheap wine at the ready...cheap wine, Mikasa wine glasses!  We partied at the Arnold's house last nite for a birthday to remember...and the wine was waiting for tonight...although the food from last nite can't be topped.  When excellent food (filet, w...

7.18.2010 Tilapia Po'Boys

I've gotten behind on bloggin...but not behind on eattin!  It's the first truly cool day of Fall...almost feels like being on the coast.  I was reminded this morning of the days of "Beach Camp" in H.S. and sleeping in tents right off the beach, waking up early to the smell of breakfast and the ocean.  The excitement of being away from home, being with friends and high school crushes.  I can feel a hint of the adrenaline now just thinking of it.  Well back in July we were eating Tilapia Po'Boys.  This sandwich was inspired by one we made after the fourth of July with the Mac's...we'd made steak sammies with the left over tenderloin.  So we decided to do the same sammie but with fried tilapia.  They were Deeeeelicious! onion rings, cut in thick rings, soaking in buttermilk and Franks Hot Sauce  then dredged in a mix of flour/cornmeal, back in butter milk, then again in the flour mix then back in fridge to set  fried in hot canola oil fre...

scott saw sole almondine on the food network...tyler's ultimate i think...well we had tilapia almondine and it turned out pretty good roasted broccoli w/ parm...not a fan...i've tried roasted broc several times, just tastes burnt.
