8.5.10 My Momma's Victory Beans

Image
This blog started with beans...and a momentous occasion occurred in these last few weeks...My momma made her Eaton Family famous beans.  Beans wouldn't seem like such a big deal...simple, humble beans.  But, in our family they are history and presently, they are a victory, a triumph.  My momma...who filled my young belly with extraordinary delights and taught me the value of a well cooked meal and the joy that can be experienced in it's creation, hasn't been able to cook for many years. At times due to business...and most recently due to disability and poor health.  But the Eaton Family has experienced a victory! In the form of a little dry bean, which was transformed into a succulent, tender, savory, protein and carb infused wonder.  A nourishment available to the poorest and also enjoyed by the most wealthy (if they are smart!) Marriage Chili...in the spirit of Christmas 12.4.09

Image
It was time for a batch of chili...very cold and windy outside...weekend...just the perfect time.  Little Logan was hanging out and taking a nap...once I got it on the stove I could leave it be and tend to him.  His sisa and uncle scott are just addicted to the little guy.  He's so happy, so precious, so chubby and delicious.  Those big baby blues and big toothy grins just slay me...then his sweet jabbering and silly faces...so much fun.  By the time his daddy came by to pick him up the apt smelled like a chili factory...still does....and its what we are having again for dinner tonight (tomorrow?) Delicious.

Pizza...and a baby boy in a pink hat:)

Red Baron Supreme...with added jalapenos, mozzarella, cheddar, pineapple and fresh basil See the post, "Red Baron gets his Pizza on", for tonight's meal...our favorite frozen pie:)...(what's up with me and all the smiley faces?...i tire myself out sometimes with this "people pleasing" mess...always "put on a happy face" stuff...STOP it! ) i digress. Any way...Erich and I took little Logan swimming today...my first time taking him swimming. I should have taken a picture of his cute little fluffy blond hair when I put a little hair product in it to protect it from the sun/water...like a little 'punk' do...it cracked Scott up. I'll have to do it again and take a pic. At almost 8 mo. old, he loves the water. I only had Madison's old swim gear...a blue and red floaty suit, which was fine...but a hot pink sun hat too. I was glad his daddy wasn't there to witness the very colorful outfit on his sweet baby boy...we dressed Mikey as a ...
