scott suggested pasta...and he graciously went to the store...as he has done for weeks now...benefiting greatly from his enjoyment of cooking :)...he sauteed baby bellas with carmelized onion which was deglazed with a little marsala, which he then added to our favorite store bought bertolli marinara, added some roasted garlic, a pesto chunk from the freezer (yay to the basil from this summer!), browned a lb of ground chuck, seasoned and simmered in water to cover till tender...drained then added to the sauce...covered & popped the sauce in a warm 250 oven, which I think makes the sauce taste richer, till we were ready to eat...served with angel hair and fresh garlic bread and fresh grated parmesean. delicious & very garlicky!

Anniversary Shrimp Dinner & Welcome Home Chix Soup 9.20.09

Scott surprised me with 2 doz red roses & a mushy, yummy card for our 17th anniversary. I had spent the nite at our apt the nite before, and Scott was out at the Ranch sitting Tex, he surprised me with these flowers when he came home that morning.  I LOVE roses...and most other flowers.  Our Anniversary is 9.20 and we were spending our last night housesitting for the Mc's at the Ranch.  It was a perfect place to celebrate...like being at our own private resort.  Scott had been eyeing the large shrimp at Costco...so we kept it simple. Jumbo shrimp, garlic bread (also Costco) and chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting.  It was so delicious and so simple...a perfect meal. We shared one lb of shrimp, which Scott peeled, deveined and seasoned with a little s&p, tossed in a blend of evoo & butter, placed on a piece of foil and put on the grill.  We ate them with melted butter & hot, crusty, buttery, garlicky sourdough bread.  Ohhh, th...

Delmonico Steaks, mushroom wine sauce & blue cheese

Image
Scott was craving steaks...we just got done enjoying a seared Delmonico steak topped with a mushroom wine sauce and blue cheese crumbles. Garlic bread (of course) to mop up the sauce and Caprese salad. I ate just enough and it was so delicious and I'm satisfied but not too full...:) When I can learn to do that every time I'll be doing good! We enjoyed the rest of our wine from last night, which I used in the sauce too...just a variation on the steak we made the other day, only adding mushrooms and using wine instead of beer. Now its time to see Who Wants to Be a Millionare...Scott's watching it...even tho my patience for game shows is about that of an infant.
